Student bands perform in the Olympic Park at London 2012 Opening Ceremony
28 July 2012
Last night's Olympic Opening Ceremony featured some of the biggest names in music, and two student bands also played their part behind the scenes.
While the likes of Sir Paul McCartney and Arctic Monkeys took to the main stage, bands representing King's College London and Hereford Sixth Form College were on hand to keep VIPs entertained on their way into the stadium.
Both the King's Chix and Busker Street were selected from a variety of high quality entrants to a competition run by Podium to provide musical accompaniment to the Opening Ceremony build-up.
Both groups were formed during their time in further education, and have gone on to perform at gigs and festivals in their local areas, before being selected to perform in the Olympic Park.
Podium caught up with both bands before their performances, before watching them entertain Olympic dignitaries, members of the media and national ambassadors outside the Prestige Building before the ceremony got underway.
