Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony

With a cast of thousands, dazzling choreography, stunning sets, and incredible special effects, the Opening Ceremony will be one of the highlights of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

This programme is part of the commitment that London 2012 has made to use the Games to 'Inspire a Generation'. In total, Podium has 2,500 of these tickets available.

The tickets available are for 'standing areas' and will grant access to see the Opening Ceremony before billions of television viewers from all around the world. London 2012 Ceremonies ask that all those attending in the standing areas are aged 18-30; proof of age may be required for anyone who appears under 18.

Your application must be returned to tickets@podium.ac.uk by no later than Midday on 18 July.

Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis - so a quicker reply will improve your chances.

Shaun - thanks for your comment.

Podium will not be 'enforcing' anything, we are just promoting an opportunity and London 2012 Ceremonies have asked that all those attending in the standing areas are aged 18-30 due to the nature of their role on the night.

We're sure a few people above the age of 30 will be fine.

As a volunteer for the Leeds Training Camp, I really wanna get more involved in the Olympics and I wanna grab this chance to see the Opening Ceremony Rehearsal very much.

Why upper age limit of 30? Are you going to be enforcing this?

Posted by Shaun on 16th July 2012

Nah, its all perfectly legit. Your (sic) at an increased risk of tinnitus over the age of 30 and considering the recent Justin Bieber case it just means they are stopping you from sueing them...

18-30?! Since when were venues allowed to enforce an upper age limit?!? I'm 37 and should be allowed to attend this just like anyone else in the country. Hell, you could be sued for Ageism here, as in THIS country it is illegal to unfairly exclude someone based only on their age.
