The University of Bath is marking two years to go until the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games by holding a six day training camp for Britain’s Paralympic hopefuls.

Sunday 29 August 2010 marks exactly two years until the day that the Paralympic movement ‘returns home’ and LOCOG Director for Paralympic Integration Chris Holmes visited the pre Games training camp with London 2012 mascot Mandeville to see how Team GB’s preparations are coming along.

Hosting the Paralympic Games will be extra special for the UK as the Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Games in 1948 - the year the country last hosted the Olympic Games – were the frontrunner to the Paralympics.

Hugh Robertson MP, Minister for Sport and the Olympics said: “Preparations for the Paralympics are well on track. The athletes are training hard; Mandeville is educating children across the country about the Paralympic movement and disabled artists are making their mark through the Unlimited programme.

“Now is the time for the Great British public to get on board and decide how they are going to get involved with the Paralympics. There will be millions of tickets available for spectators, but volunteers are also crucial to the Games’ success. We need skilled and passionate people who have the commitment to make 2012 the best Olympic and Paralympic Games ever.”

Video footage and interviews of Team GB’s Paralympic hopefuls are available to watch on below as well as on both the BBC and Channel 4 websites.
