First stage of London 2012 volunteer recruitment launches on 27 July
09 July 2010
The first stage of recruitment for 70,000 Games-time volunteers for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is launching on Tuesday 27 July and you could be a part of the biggest show on earth if you are ‘passionate, dedicated, enthusiastic and inspirational’.
A wide range of roles will be on offer, divided between ‘specialists’ and ‘generalists’.
Specialists will have specific existing skills or qualifications that are needed for them to complete the role: for example, doctors, doping control officers, and sports specialists. London 2012 has been working with organisations such as sport national governing bodies of sport to help pre-identify applicants to be considered for specialist roles.
Generalists will not need specialist skills or qualifications but should bring passion and enthusiasm to the Games. They might be given roles from drivers and uniform distributors to ticket checking and airport welcome. All generalist volunteers will be given full training.
Online applications for specialists will open on 27 July and generalists will have the opportunity to apply on 15 September 2010.
