Greenwich Community College is welcomed into the Get Set network

Students and staff at Greenwich Community College are celebrating being officially welcomed in to London 2012’s Get Set network, in recognition of their commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values.

In order to join the network, the college has been running a range of events and activities around the values including a learner conference, sports events with other colleges and students volunteering in local schools.

Lord Sebastian Coe, chairman of LOCOG, said: “When London won the right to host the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, we made a clear promise to use the power of the 2012 Games to inspire young people.

“I am proud to welcome Greenwich Community College in to the Get Set network for their exciting work around the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect and the Paralympic Values of inspiration, courage, determination and equality.”

Earlier in the year the college was awarded the prestigious Inspire Mark from LOCOG for its Legacy Champions project with other five host borough colleges.

Geoff Pine, Principal of Greenwich Community College said: “I am delighted that we are now part of the Get Set network. We are proud to be a college in one of the five host boroughs and are committed to embedding the Olympic and Paralympic values in daily college life.”

They college is now proudly displaying the London 2012 Get Set logo, which was designed by student Reiss Evans, on its website – just one of the many perks of joining the network.
