8 June 2010
Students and recently qualified professors and lecturers are being invited to apply for up to nearly £9,000 as the International Olympic Committee’s Studies Centre launches its 2011 Postgraduate Research Grant Programme.
The award is intended for ‘young researchers engaged in scholarly research on the Olympic Movement, its history and ideals, and the impact of the Olympic Games on the various aspects of contemporary society and culture’.
And applications are being accepted from all current postgraduate students undertaking a PhD degree and all university professors/lecturers who have completed their doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in the past five years and who currently hold an academic appointment.
The programme offers 15,000 Swiss francs (equivalent to around £8,950) to collaborative projects and 10,000 Swiss francs (approximately £6,000) to submissions by individuals.
The deadline for applications is 30 September 2010. To find out more and how to apply visit the Olympic Studies Centre website and to read some academic Games-related papers click here.
