26 May 2010

Edge, the independent education charity, is looking behind the scenes at the inspirational men and woman responsible for creating the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a new skills initiative inspired by London 2012.

Making the Games website

Making the Games showcases some of the many interesting and exciting roles involved in creating the Olympic and Paralympic Games and aims to inspire young people, and their teachers, to think differently about practical and vocational careers.

By following a handful of skilled professionals who are passionate, ambitious and successful, Edge hopes to change perceptions and raise the stature of practical learning within the UK. There are plenty of chances to get involved too, with regular prizes up for grabs to those who follow or tweet @MakingtheGames.

Visitors to the Making the Games website can view a diverse range of profiles, from construction workers to chefs and engravers to film crew. Useful links for anyone interested in a profiled career can be found on each page whilst a fun interactive dimension gives the opportunity to send questions to the individuals profiled, and to follow their twitter updates as their work progresses.
