Colleges and universities’ contribution to Beijing 2008 studied
5 November 2009
The contribution colleges and universities made to the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteering programme has formed part of a study commissioned by Podium Skills London.
The research, conducted in partnership with the London-Beijing World City Links programme, reviews the approach taken towards preparing the workforce ahead of the Games.
The report provides a number of interesting examples of good practice and is designed to help providers and other key stakeholders maximise the employment and training opportunities offered to Londoners in the build up to the 2012 Games.
As well as colleges and universities involvement, the other main points of discussion include:
- The training needs of Beijing in order to provide an outstanding visitor experience
- The importance of language skills when hosting a global event
- Sourcing labour for major infrastructure projects
The executive summary of the report is available as a downloadable PDF. The full report can be downloaded by clicking here
