ELegacies 2010 Website launches
25 September 2009
LinkBC have launched their free online tool for colleges, universities and other organisations to maximize the learning opportunities from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
E-Legacies: learning resources for the 2010 Games aim to encourage college and university staff and students to discuss the topics created by the Games including: tourism marketing activities, transportation challenges, venue design, social impacts, merchandising strategies, ticketing, security and volunteer issues, mega-event management, and many more. The topics are presented in 2-page 2010 Today Discussion Starters, resources written in a balanced journalistic style which include questions and debate topics to encourage critical thinking.
E-Legacies is a collaborative project of BC post-secondary institutions, including Capilano University, Thompson Rivers University, and Simon Fraser Universit and is coordinated by LinkBC. After 2010, the BC team will hand the site over to the UK universities in the 2012 Olympics Special Interest Group of the Higher Education Academy and Podium. While not an official VANOC resource, e-Legacies has received valuable input from VANOC and is a featured link on the Canadian School Portal for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
