Enter Skills London 2012 competitions by 2nd November

Are your students ready to shine in the spotlight? Continuing the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Skills London is launching two informal skills competitions open to all colleges in London and the Thames Gateway - an exciting opportunity for promising students to showcase their skills.

Skills London is a hands-on skills and careers event attracting young people from across London to bring together top employers, colleges and training providers to meet students and young people.

Skills London 2012 is taking place at the ExCeL centre in London from 23-24 November.

Are your students the leaders of the next generation to take the London 2012 legacy forward? Then why not enter them in the Enterprising Minds Competition?

Following the huge success of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) are hosting the Enterprising Minds Competition with colleges from across London and the south of England.

Skills London is calling for all entrepreneur-focused minds to take part in the competition run by NACUE, to design a new brand for the City of London, the final stages of which will be held at Skills London 2012.

To build on the successes of the Olympic Games and its impact on the UK, the theme of the competition will be the Olympic Legacy.

Or if your students are more electrically minded you can enter students for the Electrical Engineering Competition aimed at individual students working in small teams to showcase the skills they have learnt at college.

Each student will be tasked to wire, connect, test, commission and demonstrate the working of a lighting system using the materials supplied then flick the switch. Judges will be on hand to carefully watch the methodology, accuracy and skill used by each team with points being awarded along the way.

The winning student will win a 6 week work placement in industry, and the team with the best communication and teamwork over the competition will also be rewarded.
