Book now to attend Podium's London 2012 Legacy Event
29 October 2012
Podium invites you to a panel discussion, exhibition and drinks reception on Tuesday 4th December at the University of Westminster to explore how colleges and universities can continue to support the delivery of mega-events both in the UK and internationally, building upon the invaluable contribution the Further and Higher Education sectors made to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A number of panellists have been confirmed for the event so far, including representatives from future Games host cities such as Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and 2017 World Athletics Championships in London. We also hope to announce senior figures from other major sporting events and cultural projects including Rio 2016 in due course.
The event will be hosted by Professor Geoff Petts, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Westminster and Chair of Podium, and the following key speakers have been confirmed so far:
•Simon Morton, Director of Major Events and International Relations, UK Sport
•Marina Pochinok, Workforce Director, Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games
•Fiona McKie, Engagement Manager, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games
•Jon Dutton, Operations Director, Rugby League World Cup 2013
•Gina Koutsika, Head of National and International Programmes and Projects, First World War Centenary Celebrations
This legacy conference presents an ideal opportunity for attendees to liaise directly with the senior figures from future host Games cities and UK mega-events such as the 2017 World Athletics Championships to ensure that our institutions continue to support these high profile activities.
The legacy event will also provide an exhibition to showcase the very best of the FE and HE sectors' involvement with the London 2012 Games. If you are interested in having an exhibition space at Podium's Legacy Conference please contact thomas.marsh@podium.ac.uk.
We hope that you can join us in shaping the London 2012 legacy of our colleges and universities in what has been a golden summer of entertainment.
