Members of the public had the lucky opportunity to train with the Paralympians in games of one-on-one table tennis and sitting volleyball.

The team of 55 athletes are currently using the Human Performance Centre at the University to warm up for the Games, which begin on Wednesday the 29th August.

A group of 50 volunteers, including members of Lincolnshire’s Arabic Community and Egyptian Society are supporting the team while they are in the county.

Councillor Doreen Stephenson, Lincolnshire's champion for London 2012 and leader of East Lindsey District Council, said: "It's fantastic - we are delighted that people across the county have offered so much support to the Egyptian Paralympic team during their time in Lincolnshire.

"Whether it's a local business supplying goods for the team or a physiotherapist volunteering their time to support the athletes, the whole county has come together to welcome the team."

The athletes, who arrived in Lincoln last Saturday, will be travelling to London on Friday, the 24th August.
