Student Volunteering Week 2010: Inspiring futures, connecting communities.
Student Volunteering Week was established in 2001 by Volunteering England, and raises the national profile of student volunteering in Further and Higher Education. The theme for 2010 is ‘Inspiring futures; connecting communities’. During the week we will highlight the way in which volunteering plays a vital role in enhancing personal and professional development, and creates cohesion between different communities and sectors.
The objectives of Student Volunteering Week 2010 are:
- To raise the profile of student volunteering
- To demonstrate the benefits that volunteering has for: students, educational institutions, the wider community, business and recruiters
- To highlight the relationship between employability and volunteering
- To build partnerships and engage with key stakeholders, including universities, graduate recruiters and policy makers
- To encourage more people to volunteer
